About the Role
Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield is hiring a Claims Specialist 1 to resolve medical claims that the claims system could not process automatically. You will investigate each claim, interpret contract benefits, and pay or deny it accurately and on time. New hires complete initial and on-the-job training.
What You Will Do
- Enter claim data and review contract benefits to pay or deny pended claims
- Resolve edits and audits and determine benefit eligibility
- Research processing issues using company systems and manuals
- Contact internal staff and medical providers to get missing information
- Send correspondence and route claims to other areas when needed
- Meet quality and productivity standards
What You Need
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Either 2 years of college coursework (48 semester hours) in a related field such as anatomy, medical terminology, math, or biology, or 1 year of related office experience such as claims processing, health insurance, or a medical office
- Must pass the company Claims Assessment test
- Strong communication, judgment, and attention to detail

100% remote. Preference is given to current employees and candidates who live in Arkansas. Full time. Hiring range $19.77 to $25.68 per hour.
